Organization - About us

Saint Michael Archangel, Apolitic Foundation, is a nonprofit organization indipendent from both private and public organizations and structures with profit-making purposes, that exclusively pursues purposes of social and cultural solidariety, aimed at disadvantaged groups and specifically "SAFEGUARDING THE QUALITY OF LIFE AND THE IMPROVEMENT OF IT IN ALL ITS FORMS AND SPECIES WITHOUT DIFFERENTIATING ANY EVEN ABROAD" (in line with the provisions of the Italian cooperation with developing countries currently regulated by law n. 49 of 26 February 1987 and the related implementing regulation Presidential Decree No. 177 of 12 April 1988) and more specifically:

- the implementation of short and medium term projects in developing countries.

In support of the project the Italian Foundation has promoted and supported the establishment of St. Michael Archangel, UK  LTD No-Profit, desired by the President De Luca Gianmario which intends to constitute an opportunity to exchange good practices between England and Italy. It also has the goal of promoting and spreading the deeds of Giovanni Palatucci the Policeman servant of God.

A bit of Palatucci's history: he was initially assigned to the foreigners office until November 12 1937, he then worked as a regent of the Questura di Fiume from Februrary 1944 until September 13 1944, when he was arrested by the Germans and deported the following October 22nd to the concentration camp in Dechau. He had been assigned the number 117826 and he died of starvation on February 10 1945, 78 days before the liberation of the camp.

In 1952, his uncle Bishop Giuseppe Maria Palatucci recounted that his nephew had saved "many Israelites" during his stay in Fiume. Since then Giovanni Palatucci has risen to honors in Israel (where he has been a Righteous Among the Nations since 1990), the Catholic Church (for which he has been a Servant of God since 2004), and in the Italian Republic (where he has been awarded a Gold Medal for civil merit in 1995).

Help us spread his life and deeds.
